Ryder's surprise wedding
Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder has married his longterm love - he surprised guests at his baby daughter's christening on Sunday (07Mar10) by announcing the shock double celebration.
The British singer invited close family and friends to mark the baptism of his 10-month-old daughter Lulu with girlfriend of six years, Joanne, at a church in Swinton, north England.
But Ryder then shocked guests by announcing the surprise wedding - and the partygoers were moved to a venue nearby where the pair exchanged vows.
The pair, who also have a two-year-old daughter, Pearl, had hinted at the impending nuptials by telling loved ones there would be a "big surprise" surrounding the christening, but they had kept the marriage a secret.
Ryder's manager, Warren Askew, confirmed the news, saying, "Congratulations to Shaun and Joanne on their wedding. It was a surprise to everyone after the baptism of Lulu, but was a really lovely day."
